I think you are right with regards to the two things that become increasingly necessary it product development are being good in deciding what to build and making sure the right people find it. I disagree with the first one being «taste», I think that’s certainly part of it but knowing your user, their problems and how they use your product is more important than your personal opinion. I think being exceptional in fulfilling user needs will be the most important differentiator for building the right product.

Good points, I think taste is increasingly being used as a synonym for product sense though.
